- Presenting the Program
The Graduate Program in Architecture and Urban Planning is administered by the Architecture and Urbanism Department of the Federal University of Viçosa (UFV). It aims to qualify human resources both scientifically and culturally in a multidisciplinary perspective and in a broad and deepen way through the development of researches aimed at solving problems in Architecture and Urbanism.
The Program treats Architecture and Urban Planning as inseparable disciplinary fields. The location of UFV in the interior of the state of Minas Gerais has contributed so that most of the researches developed by the Program's professors has as its locus of investigation both the city of Viçosa and the other cities of the state, as well as the neighboring states: Rio de Janeiro and Espírito Santo. This constitutes a prominence and a specificity of one of its research line, which seeks to fill a gap in studies in Architecture and Urbanism aimed at small and medium-sized cities. The other research line already transcends the borders of the state of Minas Gerais by turning to national aspects related to the environment and its relationship with users.
With such spatial frames, the Program's professors have been conducting research in the areas of performance evaluation of the built environment, technological applications in buildings, processes for the production of sustainable and intelligent buildings, environmental behavior, urban planning and urbanization processes.
The Master Program has a minimum duration of one year and a maximum duration of two years. The Doctorate Program has a minimum duration of three years and a maximum duration of four years. Both of them counting from the date of admission of the student.
